Residents are encouraged to attend and provide comment. The proposed budget document is available for review at the County Clerk's office.

The Chippewa County Animal Shelter is hosting a spring adoption event April 19-20, 2026. Adoption fees will be waived for all adult dogs and cats. The shelter is located at 3832 E Shunk Rd, Sault Ste. Marie. Hours: 11 AM – 4 PM both days.

The Chippewa County Veterans Affairs office will host free benefits enrollment assistance sessions every Tuesday in April from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM at 325 Court Street. Restrictions will remain in effect until road conditions improve, expected around May 15, 2026. Overweight vehicles may be fined. Property owners who wish to appeal their assessment must file a protest with the local Board of Review by the deadline stated on their notice. The Chippewa County Treasurer provides notice that foreclosure proceedings have been initiated on properties with delinquent taxes from 2023 and prior.
